K-pop supergroup BTS has turned 10 and it’s time to celebrate, ARMYs! The members have already started kicking off the celebration, first by releasing the heartwarming single ‘Take Two’ and then launching a full week of festivities for their fans around the world.
Seoul, South Korea, has already turned purple with major hotspots around the city lit in the hue that has become the band’s unofficial colour over the years, including the City Hall, Lotte World Towers, the Han river bridges, and Dongdaemun Design Plaza. Congratulatory messages have been projected on billboards across the city for a week and a firework show will take place by the Han river on Saturday night.
Ever since they debuted back in 2013, the band has worked tirelessly to pursue their dreams of making music and their simple message of self love and remaining true to your roots has resonated with millions of fans around the world, making them some of the most influential figures in history.
Now unless you plan to fly to Korea to participate in bora week in Seoul, there are many ways you can celebrate their 10th anniversary at home. Here are seven simple, but perfect, ways to mark 10 years of BTS…
Listen to all their songs
This one should go without saying! With nine studio albums and 43 singles, The Grammy-nominated band has many songs to choose from today. Stream your favourite BTS tracks and indulge in some nostalgia by remembering the special memories associated with how you discovered each song.
Binge-watch Run BTS, Bon Voyage, and In The Soop
Aside from chart-topping tracks, BTS has also given us over 150 episodes of their variety show Run BTS, where the members compete in games and challenges for prizes or to receive punishments. Similarly, Bon Voyage and In The Soop are two reality series where BTS take a break from their busy lives and go on a vacation to a foreign locale (Bon Voyage) or retreat to a remote forest location for a relaxing break (In The Soop).
Watch Suga: Road to D-Day and BTS: j-hope In The Box
Last year this time, BTS announced a temporary hiatus from group activities and began exploring solo projects, like studio albums and more. Along with their debut solo studio albums, Suga and J-Hope released documentaries that took us on a journey through their process and everything that took to get there. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Suga and J-Hope announced that the movies will be screened in theatres around the world. So you can catch them on Disney+ Hotstar or head to the nearest cinema for an experience you’ll never forget.
BTS’ leader RM, or Kim Namjoon, has not only led the band to stratospheric success but also played a major role in reviving interest in art and culture across the world. Kim Namjoon, who regularly visits art exhibits across the world and has an impressive collection of his own, has become an art influencer and inspired fans to coin the term ‘Namjooning’, for all the activities that the leader like to do in his spare time, like visiting museums, taking hikes, spending time out in the nature, and reading.
Treat yourself to a feast
When they’re not busy selling out stadiums for their concerts and breaking records, BTS members love to eat. So many episodes of Run BTS end with us craving a large Korean feast or even a bowl full of piping hot ramen. Members Jin, Suga, and Jungkook are especially skilled in cooking and the youngest member has now began to share recipes that he loves to whip up in the middle of the night with his fans.
Donate to a charity you support
BTS have never shied from putting their might behind worthy causes, like Black Lives Matter and the aftermath of the Sewol ferry disaster. The members individually also regularly donate to causes like the emergency relief for survivors of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria or children’s hospitals in the country. You can match their philanthropic efforts by making a difference in your own way to mark their 10th anniversary.
Indulge in some self-care
BTS is all about self-love and believing in yourself. Whether it’s a pampering spa session or a shopping trip, treat yourself to something that you love and practice self-care today.
