Fans of K-pop supergroup BTS are over the moon as songs from the band could possibly be featured in a special playlist curated by NASA for the 2024 lunar mission.

ICYMI, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, NASA is gearing up for another lunar expedition in 2024. Back in 2019, the space agency had shared that they’re looking for entries for a special playlist for the mission. “As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, we’re also preparing to go back to the Moon by 2024, which means astronauts will have a non-stop journey of approximately 3 days each way—the ultimate long-distance travel. Just like any road trip needs a soundtrack, so does a spaceflight!”

NASA had revealed that most of the entries for the playlist were BTS songs, primarily three tracks by the band. These were ‘Mikrokosmos’, from their album Map Of The Soul: Persona (2019), ‘13430’ from the album Love Yourself: Tear (2018) and ‘Moonchild’ from BTS’ leader RM’s 2018 solo mixtape mono.

Whether these three tracks, loved by ARMYs all over the world, made it to the playlist or not is yet to be confirmed, but the two songs by BTS have found their way to the Moon Tunes playlist are ‘Lights’ and ‘A Brand New Day’.

The members, who are currently completing their mandatory military enlistment, are no strangers to setting new records and accomplishing astonishing feats, so it’s only fitting that even during their hiatus, they manage to make an impact this way.
