According to a spokesperson at Netflix, the unscripted shows cover a broad and diverse category of content, including reality and variety shows, comedy sketches, and docuseries.
Nearly 75% of viewers across Korea, Japan, and India watched unscripted content in 2022. The genre finds resonance since it deals with real people in real-life situations. Tanya Bami, Netflix India’s Director of Content Series, says the growing interest in unscripted content in India, had led the platform to ideate on their creative strategies.
