Anne Hathaway is all set to star in a film adaptation of a 2017 hit book, The Idea Of You, which is kind of inspired by Harry Styles. The story revolves around a 40-year-old single mother Sophie, who accompanies her daughter to a concert and ends up meeting Hayes Campbell, a 24-year-old singer from a popular British band called August Moon. Soon the two start a relationship, which takes them through a journey of fame and love but soon Sophie finds herself under the scrutiny of Campbell’s fanbase which makes things more complicated.
During an interview with Vogue, the author of the book, Robinne Lee spoke about how she was inspired by Harry Styles to write this story, who was a part of the British boy band, One Direction. Talking about how Styles inspired her, Lee says, “I was up late surfing music videos on YouTube when I came across the face of a boy I’d never seen in a band I’d never paid attention to. It was like… art.” Around that time, Styles was seen going on dates with women who were older than him, which is what gave Lee the idea to come up with this plot. However, Lee has made it very clear that The Idea Of You is not a Harry Styles fiction, instead, it is a story about a woman discovering herself and her sexuality, while reclaiming it proudly.
Directed by Michael Showalter and produced by Gabrielle Union, the film does change things up a bit. And while they haven’t given out many details about the film, we do know that the movie will release only in 2023.
