With chunky, beaded jewellery and handkerchief dresses making a comeback, it’s only fair that the other glorious early aughts relics find their way back into 2022. Seems like the Universe was listening because classic romantic comedies are returning to the big screens, with Julia Roberts and George Clooney’s upcoming movie Ticket To Paradise setting off the trend.

Roberts is returning to her rom-com roots and reuniting with her Ocean’s Eleven co-star Clooney for this much-anticipated movie.

The story follows Roberts and Clooney, who are bitter exes, as they reunite on a trip to Bali to stop their daughter from getting married on an impulse and repeat the same mistakes they did. The recently released trailer shows the incredibly good-looking pair trading passive-aggressive (and sometimes aggressive-aggressive) insults back and forth as they try and present a united front in the face of their daughter’s impending nuptials.

The movie has been directed by Ol Parker, who has also directed Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011). Along with Roberts and Clooney, the movie also stars Kaitlyn Dever, Billie Lourd, and Lucas Bravo.

It will be released on streaming platforms, following a theatrical release on October 21, 2022.
