If you’re in a constant battle between your stash of chocolate and not giving in to the urge to devour them because of your lingering loyalty to the fitness goals you set for yourself at the beginning of the year, then this viral hack is for you.

Canadian influencer and registered dietician Miranda Galati has shared tips to manage your choco cravings that are easy and helpful.

Her hack is to not wait to eat the chocolate when the craving hits. We tend to put off satisfying our craving for chocolate at the end of the day because of the belief that we would have earned it by then.

“The reason why this works is when you always save the fun foods to the end of the day, you’re creating a lot of anticipation for them,” she says, “And with a lot of anticipation and excitement, it’s going to put a lot of pressure on that eating experience and make it a lot more difficult to feel satisfied from a small amount.”

Along with her assertion that we should stop saving the chocolate treat for the end of the day, Galati shares that we should instead have it as a snack at different times of the day paired with other healthier food options.

“The reason why this works is because when you have a candy or a fun food by itself, it’s going to be a lot of sugar and carbs present most of the time, not a lot of protein and fibre, which means that you’ll be able to easily get energy from the (fun) food, so your body is going to experience a quick blood sugar spike and then a quick fall right afterwards.”

Dark chocolate, in moderation, packs several important health benefits. It can help regulate heart health, balance the immune system, improve brain function and reduce stress.

A 2014 study also discovered that women who associate eating chocolate with happier emotions, like celebrations, tend to have a successful time with weight management than those who associate eating chocolate with guilt.

This is why it’s essential to deal with your chocolate cravings the right way and this hack might just be the solution for it! What do you think?
