Aside from giving fans a glimpse at her domestic paradise with husband Shahid Kapoor and their two kids, Mira Kapoor uses her Instagram to dispense beauty and skincare advice like a true blue influencer.

Over the past couple of years, Kapoor has managed to build a loyal audience who follows her for beauty tips, fashion hacks, and lifestyle advice.

Kapoor recently took to the platform to share her winter skincare essentials, which included Vitamin E capsules as supplements, an extra spoonful of ghee in her food, and sesame oil drops on the soles of her feet and belly button. She added that she does this “to combat dryness from inside out”.

In a Q&A session later, she elaborated on her love for sesame oil in her skincare routine, saying, “Sesame oil is vata-pacifying. It deals with internal and external dryness. It ‘grounds’ the body and any vitiated vata. So, it helps with disturbed sleep (issue) too.” She added that she applies drops of the oil to her belly button and the soles of her feet because both are known to have a concentration of nerve endings.

Kapoor, a long time believer of all things Ayurveda, swears by this unassuming ingredient that packs a lot of benefits.

Sesame oil is one of the few non-comedogenic oils so it can be easily used in your skincare routine even if you have acne-prone skin. In fact, the oil has anti-inflammatory properties and helps in fighting acne and redness.

Aside from skincare, sesame oil is also great for your hair as it is known to be a softener, as well as a moisturiser.

If you want to take inspiration from Kapoor and add sesame oil to your skincare routine, consult your dermatologist to figure out the best way to do it.
