The lovely Karisma Kapoor reveals the secrets to her ever-glowing complexion and the makeup hacks she swears by and what exactly is in her beauty kit...
HELLO!: A morning skincare staple you can’t do without….
Karisma Kapoor: The first product I reach for in the morning is my lip balm. I can’t imagine getting started without a trusty, well-hydrating balm. I currently use Clinique’s Moisture Surge Lip Hydro-Plump Treatment. A dark kohl pencil comes a close second. These are the staples I never leave home without.
H!: Words of wisdom that you live by...
KK: Both my grandmothers played an important role in shaping my understanding of makeup and skincare. The power of bold lip colours — rich red lipsticks, for instance — is a fail-safe beauty tip that has stayed with me for years. And it works like magic! I recently picked one up from Sephora’s range of Rouge Matte Lipsticks, and I totally recommend it.
H!: The must-haves on your dresser…
KK: My dresser usually has a lot of things on it. But nothing replaces a good perfume and a face spritzer on the deck. Some of my current favourites are Chopard Love and Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir Face Mist.
H!: Give us a peek into your travel pouch…
KK: While I believe in travelling light, some of the staples in my makeup pouch are a bright lip colour, a moisturising lip balm, a dark kohl pencil, a hydrating moisturiser and sunblock. It’s simple, regular stuff. Sunday Riley’s C.E.O Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream, the Shiseido Kajal InkArtist Shadow, Liner and Brow 4-in-1 eye pencil, and Lancôme’s Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate were great investments.
H!: Who are your beauty idols?
KK: My beauty idol would be my dadi because she had such enviable, glowing skin all her life. She aged gracefully and looked stunning even at 86! In today’s times, I’d definitely say my sister, Kareena, is effortlessly gorgeous and inspires me with her clean lifestyle.
H!: Any mistakes you wish you hadn’t made?
KK: I don’t usually see beauty mishaps as regrets, but if I had to pick one thing I wish I never did, it’d be wearing frosted pink lipsticks at the beginning of my career! But we all live and learn.
H!: What’s an instant mood fixer, in your book?
KK: I love doing yoga and walking around the house. Staying active and engaged is the best way to stay in shape and keep a bad mood at bay.
