Disney is remaking our favourite childhood classic about a wooden puppet named Pinocchio into a film. The 1940’s animated film is coming to Disney+ as a live-action movie, starring Tom Hanks as Pinocchio’s creator, Geppetto. The film will be premiering on September 8, 2022, just in time for the Disney+ Day celebration.

Based on an 1883 Italian tale, Pinocchio is about a wooden puppet that comes to life with the help of the magical Blue Fairy. But in order to fulfil his dream of becoming a real boy, he needs to stay truthful to people around him, which is kind of a task for Pinocchio since he often says harmless that cause his nose to grow longer.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the film will also feature Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans, and Joseph Gorden-Levitt in pivotal roles. While we are all excited to see a new take on our favourite children’s story, it’s the Blue Fairy’s version of the Disney classic song, ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ that we’re really looking forward to watching. You may not know this, but it’s one of the most famous songs to have ever been created. It also happens to be an icon of the Walt Disney Studios and is used by the company even today to accompany the logos and various other assets.

So, have you put it your calendar yet? September is just round the corner.
