There’s no denying that first heady rush of love that makes you want to scream it from the rooftops—or you could let your outfits do the talking. When done right, couple dressing can be a way to let the world know that you and your beau have arrived. But if you thought your only options were his-and-hers outfits, think again.

Celebrity Couple Styles

The new wave of celebrity couples has been proving that there are endless ways to twin with your significant other—and none of them involve matchy outfits. Ahead, a closer look at all the ways to get creative with couple dressing:

Look For The Same Hues

For an elevated take on couple style, look to Bollywood’s leading couple for cues. For celebrating their second anniversary, the couple reached for the same hue: the soothing notes of pastel pink. For him, a floral kurta topped off a dusky pink vest and for her, an oversized floral pattern that echoed the hues of his ensemble. Did someone say #couplegoals?

Pick The Same Silhouette

Or look to coordinate your choice of silhouette for the next occasion on your social calendar. For an invite to a best-dressed award show, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Anand Ahuja lived up to the moniker by opting for a contemporary take on the classic pantsuit. While Sonam reached for a pastel pink number with a coordinated fanny pack, her husband accompanied her in a neutral-hued ensemble. Rounding the look for both of them were a pair of fuss-free sneakers. Take notes.

Coordinate Your Embroidery Details

Twinning needn’t necessarily always be in the form of bold colours—something as simple as an embroidery detail can connect your look to your SO. Further proof can be found with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas who ushered in Holi festivities last year with a coordinated take on style. The star opted for a classic white kurta set featuring multi-hued floral embroidery, while her pop star husband’s kurta subtly mirrored the embroidery details from her look. Sounds like a win-win?

Choose From The Same Colour Family

If you’re not big on overtly matching couple style, you can opt for a subtler route by choosing from the same colour palette as your beau. Just ask Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli who ushered in their first Diwali as a married couple with a pared-back colour palette. Anushka reached for a neutral-hued sari and statement choker, while her cricketer husband subtly echoed her choice with an ivory kurta pajama.

Borrow From His Closet

If you are looking to keep things low-key, you can still work in some couple dressing by reaching for a few staples from his closet. Take cues from Alia Bhatt who snapped a couple of selfies in a black hat that had previously been spotted on her beau Ranbir Kapoor at the airport. If you’re looking for extra sartorial points, you can also opt for other staples such as a graphic tee or a classic leather jacket.
