‘Luxury’ is for the discerning. It’s defined not just by a price tag but more so by exquisite taste and an eye for experiences that stand out. Nine fashion-forward, glamorous ladies share their most luxurious escapades and choices of the year with HELLO!

Hotelier & lifestyle consultant Aishwarya Nair Mathew reveals her most luxurious fashion purchase of the year, most lavish vacation, and more…

Luxury to me is: “Time and having the energy, space and consciousness to do anything you desire when you desire it.”

Most lavish holiday this year: “My trip to Milan with my in-laws, who are so much fun to holiday with. Milan has an undisputed old-world charm that no other city can contest. We also drove to Modena and Parmesan to stay at Casa Maria Luigia, a villa run by Chef Massimo Bottura, where we celebrated my husband’s birthday. It was splendid!”

Most luxurious fashion purchase: “That would be my nude, perfectly cut Alaïa dress. I love it because it’s so empowering to wear and extremely sensual.”

A splendid culinary experience: “At Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura in Seoul, South Korea. The plating and décor of the restaurant was just so alluring. It was all very ostentatious but also subtle.”

Most luxurious bucket list item: “The YSL logo shoes in patent black. These heels are so coveted among those who truly love and speak fashion. It was sold out everywhere, but I was finally able to get my hands on them at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City.”

My favourite high-end labels: “Prada is my forever favourite, but I especially love its new, refreshing styles and colours. I love Alaïa for its colours and cuts. Alexander McQueen for its rock-and-roll chic vibe, Khaite for its super-chic cuts, Toteme for basics, and House of Dagmar for elevated essentials. YSL is classic yet modern, whereas Maison Margiela is both eclectic and avant-garde.”

My favourite luxuristas: “Anna Dello Russo is such an icon, as is Elsa Schiaparelli, who was the queen of surrealism. Another luxurista I love is Rossy de Palma. She’s unconventional and intriguing with her style.”
