Clueless (1995)

From the 1995 movie’s style to the ‘It Girl’ giving the new girl on the sidelines a major makeover, we can see so much of Clueless in Do Revenge. The starting scene where Gabbi introduces Eleanor to the cool kids of Rosehill Country Day School surely does remind us of the scene when Cher and Dionne showed Tai around Bronson Alcott High School. Even when it comes to their style in the film, we picked up a serious valley girl vibe.

Mean Girls (2004)

The ‘It Girl’ clique of the high school that sees the fall of the queen bee takes us back to the 2004 teen film, Mean Girls. Just like Regina George, Drea Torres falls from her high seat of grace when her ex-boyfriend Max shares her intimate pictures with the entire school. Even after her downfall, Drea does manage to make Eleanor the Cady Heron of her high school to take revenge on Max, but much like Lindsay Lohan’s iconic character, Eleanor enjoys being in the spotlight, even if it forces her to betray Drea.

Romy And Michelle’s Highschool Reunion (1997)

If you felt like you were having a case of Deja Vu while watching the scene from Do Revenge where the girls enter the Senior Ring Ceremony, it’s probably because you remember this one iconic scene from this 1997 film. When Drea and Eleanor walk in, it does take us back to the movie, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, when Romy and Michele walk in together at their much-awaited high school reunion in matching pink and blue ensembles. The Netflix film very effortlessly recreates the 1997 film’s look but with a GenZ edge.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

10 Things I Hate About You is a movie that we just can’t help but fall in love with. The scene where Kat and Patrick go on a date to a paintball arena, only to be covered in paint while having the makeout session of our dreams, does remind us of one very cute scene from the Netflix film. When Drea and Russ ditch their classes for a fun session of throwing pain at a white canvas, they too, like Kat and Patrick, are covered in vibrant paint, which leads them to share a cute moment too.

John Tucker Must Die (2006)

When Max leaks Drea’s sex tape, everyone pushes her off the ladder, but luckily, her new best friend Eleanor finds some interesting secrets that can ruin Max’s life. When she finds out that Max has not only been cheating on his current girlfriend and Drea’s ex-best friend, Tara, but has been dating multiple women secretly, Drea and Eleanor hatch a plan to show Max’s true colours, much like the popular 2006 rom-com, John Tucker Must Die. But unlike that film, in Do Revenge, Max does taste the medicine of his doing, until he spins the entire story only to have the entire school falling in love with him. Looks like there is no room for improvement in Max
