High School Musical fans, it’s time to finally unite once again. Our forever heartthrob, Zac Efron recently said that he was open to returning to the High School Musical series. Efron plays the lead role of Troy Bolton, a basketball captain at East High School, with a hidden musical talent. The Baywatch actor was part of the High School Musical Trilogy from 2006 to 2008. The iconic Disney film has since been turned into a Disney+ series featuring Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett, and Matt Cornett.
High School Musical was more than just a movie for us, it played an essential part in our teenage years. Starring alongside Vanessa Hudgens, Troy and Gabriella’s high school romance is still very fresh in our hearts. While promoting his upcoming film Firestarter, when asked whether he would be up for an HSM reboot, he said, “Of course! Seriously, having the opportunity in any form to go back and work with that team would be so amazing. My heart’s still there.”
