One of the most-anticipated fashion events of the year is finally over and has left us with tonness of inspiration to step out of our comfort zone this festive season. For Days 3-5, we got to see stunning runway presentations from designers, like Gauri and Nainika, Aisha Rao, Payal Singhal, Pankaj and Nidhi, Nachiket Barve, Gaurav Gupta, Rina Dhaka, Rajesh Pratap, and so many more.

Aside from eye-catching trends and beauty looks that we can’t wait to try ourselves for the next cocktail/sangeet/reception we’re invited to, this year’s edition had many unforgettable moments. Feeling the FOMO yet? Don’t worry, we’ve got your back.

Here are some of the top highlights from Lakmé Fashion Week 2022, Mumbai edition…

Walk in the park

It could be a direct result of remaining cooped up inside for months because of the global pandemic, but many designers looked towards nature and its many offerings for inspiration this time around. Designers like Rina Dhaka, Pankaj and Nidhi, and Shyamal and Bhumika featured florals and other nature-inspired elements heavily in their collections.

A riot of colours

While monochrome was clearly the flavour of the season, there was no shortage of colour on the runway either. Designers like Pankaj and Nidhi, Gauri and Nainika, Payal Singhal, and Gaurang presented rich colours in their collections. Take cues from them to introduce some colour into your winter-festive wardrobes.

Malaika Arora’s walk

Remember the iconic Versace runway where Jennifer Lopez walked and broke the Internet? We might have gotten ourselves a moment that’s comparable to that one with Malaika Arora’s walk for Limerick by Abirr n’ Nanki’s runway showcase. Arora strutted down the runway in a stunning blue ensemble with a dramatic cape billowing behind her. TBH, we’re still recovering.

Masoom Minawala and her baby bump

Global influencer Masoom Minawalamade her LFW runway debut earlier this year, marking a first for Internet content creators in India. This time around, Minawala glided down the runway with the ease of a pro, in a white Gauri and Nainika gown, while cradling her baby bump. With ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’ playing in the background as she walked, Minawala looked like a vision in white.

Star spotting

To nobody’s surprise, this LFW was packed with celebrities to the brim. Aside from Minawala and Arora, Shobita Dhulipala, Kalki Koechlin, Rhea Chakraborty, Chitrangda Singh, Vijay Varma, Babil Khan, Tara Sutaria, Genelia Deshmukh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Sania Mirza, Ananya Panday, Sidhartha Malhotra, Alaya F, Huma Qureshi, Yami Gautam, Shamita Shetty, and Anushka Ranjan turned showstoppers for shows this time around. Mrunal Thakur closed the show for Rajesh Pratap Singh at the grand finale of LFW.

Rajesh Pratap Singh’s grand finale

Designer Rajesh Pratap Singh returned to the city after seven years to present as the closing act for this season’s LFW. The designer paid homage to Lakmé completing 70 years as a brand by throwing it back to the 1950s with his collection. According to him, he was inspired by the major events that transpired during the era that led to the conception of the brand. True to his brand, the collection featured a blend of ivory with classic black and white, along with some superb tailoring and structured pieces.
