One of the most-awaited events in the calendars of every fashion enthusiast in the country, the Lakmé Fashion Week is back in its physical form in the post-pandemic world. Making its move from Mumbai to Delhi, the event opened big with a showcase at the Italian Embassy by designer Rahul Mishra, setting the tone for the exciting new launches to come.

The last day of fashion week was packed with trends we’d be seeing everywhere in the coming future and so many celebrity showstoppers. Designers Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Singh, Sejal Kamdar Designs, Varun Chakkilam, Romaa, and Keerthi Kadire presented their collections on Day 5. Inclusive fashion brand aLL presented their Big Bold Fashion showcase on the runway. Designer Siddartha Tytler took inspiration from the Japanese concept of ‘Sometsuke’ for his collection filled with moody blues and blacks. Mynah’s Reynu Taandon + Nikhita’s collection was inspired by their love for travel and Pawan Sachdeva’s ‘MenVerse’ presented athleisure wear like never before. Falguni Shane Peacock closed fashion week at the grand finalé showcase with their collections filled with drama, sequins, and so many feathers. Actress Ananya Panday turned showstopper for the designers and brought the evening to a fitting end.

Feeling the FOMO yet? Fret not, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you might have missed at Day 5 of Lakmé Fashion Week 2022…

Size Inclusivity Matters

Inclusive brand aLL presented their ‘Big Bold Fashion’ showcase with models in easy-breezy silhouettes in bold and beautiful prints, making a case for more representation of diverse sizes on the runway. Fashion influencer Sakshi Sindwani and actress Neha Dhupia turned models for the day at the show.

The Best Kind of Drama

Designer Siddartha Tytler brought drama to the runway with his showcase at LFW 2022. His collection was inspired by the Japanese concept ‘Sometsuke’, which is a technique of decorating ceramics with brush-painted designs in Indigo-coloured pigment. The designer implemented the technique through digital prints and featured dramatic structural details, deep hues, and shimmery sequins.

It’s Raining Celebrities

Day 5 was packed with celebrity sightings on the runway. We’ve already talked about Neha Dhupia gracing the runway for aLL’s ‘Big Bold Fashion’, but the day was filled with stars as showstoppers. Veteran designer Rohit Bal became the showstopper for his ex-assistant Abhishek Sharma. Divya Khosla Kumar walked for Sejal Kamdar, Pooja Hegde for Keerthi Kadire, and Nargis Fakhri for Romaa. Kangana Ranaut returned as a showstopper for Varun Chakkilam. Actor Aditya Seal and former beauty queen Neha Kapur closed the show for designer Siddartha Tytler. Speaking of former beauty queens, Urvashi Rautela was the showstopper for Mynah’s Reynu Taandon and Nikhita’s showcase. Actor Aparshakti Khurana and politician Raghav Chadha closed the show for designer Pawan Sachdeva. The day came to a close with a grand finalé featuring Falguni Shane Peacock’s collection with actress Ananya Panday as the celebrity show stopper.

Sequins! Sequins! Sequins!

Designers Falguni Shane Peacock concluded Fashion Week with a blast at the grand finalé last night. There was no room for subtle with their bold use of feather trims and dramatic silhouettes. All this was highlighted with an explosion of sequins because what do we say when someone asks sequins or no sequins? MORE SEQUINS!
