Alia Bhatt is collaborating with producer Karan Johar and director Vasan Bala to treat us to a side of her that we’ve never seen before: the action hero!
Karan Johar took to Instagram recently to share the news that Alia Bhatt is co-producing, and starring in, director Vasan Bala’s upcoming film, slated to release the same time, next year.
Titled Jigar, the movie’s teaser reveals that it’s going to be a story about a sister’s love for her brother and the lengths she would go to in order to protect him.
Bala, who is known for movies like Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and Monica, O My Darling, has proven time and again that he is one of the most unique and talented filmmakers of recent times and this is why the announcement has sent fans into a frenzy.
While Bhatt is known for delivering excellent performances in dramatic roles, we’ve never seen her kicking a*s and taking names on the big screen. The actress has been part of big action movies like Brahmastra and Heart of Stone, but she didn’t participate in the aforementioned kicking a*s and taking names in either of the films.
Jigar could also mark another step in Bhatt’s evolution into a true blue action star as the actress is already slated to join Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Hrithik Roshan in the YRF Spy universe. The female-led spy film will reportedly go on floors in 2024.
