Rajkummar Rao & Huma Qureshi Shine In ‘Monica O My Darling’s’ Twisted Trailer

The trailer for Vasan Bala’s dark comedy thriller, Monica O My Darling, which was released on the day of Halloween, chronicles the nail-biting story of Rajkummar Rao’s character, who is out for his blackmailer, Huma Qureshi’s blood. The film is a neo-noir thriller that’s all about love, betrayal and murder.

Set to R.D Burman’s iconic track, the thrilling trailer features a cornered Rajkummar Rao, who has joined forces with Sikander Kher and Bagavathi Perumal to kill Huma Qureshi. The Gangs Of Wasseypur star is essaying the titular role of Monica, a quintessential femme fatale in the upcoming movie.

The two-minute retro-style teaser sent fans in a frenzy, with many drawing comparisons between past hit Bollywood thrillers including Neil Nitin Muskesh-starrer Johnny Gaddaar and Ayushmann Khurrana-helmed Andhadhun. The clip also sees Radhika Apte’s ACP Naidu who is tasked with investigating a murder.

The trailer then shows Rao pleading with Qureshi over getting the police involved in his mess, alleging she betrayed him. He demands why she is doing this, which then cuts to Sikander Kher and Bagavathi Perumal informing Rao that they are being blackmailed by Monica as well. Together, they decide that the only way out is murder.

What follows is the their hilariously amateur attempts to get rid of Monica, while the audience is hinted of a mysterious murder that does take place, but the victim isn’t really specified. Rao’s character faces the brunt of Apte’s ACP Naidu’s suspicions, who believes he has something to do with the murder she is investigating.

The Vasan Bala directorial also stars Sukant Goel, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, and Zayn Marie. The film will be released on Netflix on November 11.
