Oscar nominations for 2024 are here and there have been some expected nods and some shocking snubs. The much-awaited nomination list for the 96th Academy Awards was announced recently with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things leading with the maximum number of nods in major categories.

Oppenheimer earned 13 nominations in categories including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (for Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actress (for Emily Blunt), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr.) and Best Original Score (for Ludwig Göransson). The epic Nolan biopic was followed closely by Poor Things, which got nominated for 11 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (for Emma Stone) and Best Supporting Actor (for Mark Ruffalo).

The year’s biggest hit Barbie scored eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (for Ryan Gosling), Best Supporting Actress (for America Ferrera), and Best Original Song (for ‘I’m Just Ken’ and ‘What Was I Made For’). Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig were shockingly snubbed in the Best Actress and Best Director categories.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-verse joined Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy And The Heron in the Best Animated Feature Film category.

The ceremony will be held on March 10, 2024 and will be hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
