Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus Oppenheimer finally has a full-length trailer that has whipped his fans into a frenzy. The director, who is known for his storytelling ability through unparalleled visuals is in full form with the upcoming movie if the trailer is to be believed.

As the title immediately gives away, the movie is based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who is also known as the ‘father of the atomic bomb’. It focuses on America’s top-secret nuclear weapons project during World War II.

Cillian Murphy stars as Oppenheimer in the movie and plays the role of a man conflicted between a scientific leap and the devastating impact it could have on the world.

The star-studded cast of the movie includes Murphy, along with Robert Downy Jr,, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid, Kenneth Branagh, and Josh Peck.

“We imagine a future, and our imaginings horrify us,” says Murphy’s Oppenheimer in the two-minute-long trailer, “They won’t fear it until they understand it, and they won’t understand it until they’ve used it. Theory will take you only so far. I don’t know if we can be trusted with such a weapon, but we have no choice. Is anyone ever going to tell the truth about what’s happening here?”

The movie is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

The movie will release on July 21, 2023.
