Sara Ali Khan’s Next Has Her In A Never-Seen-Before Avatar

The much-awaited trailer of the upcoming thriller movieGaslight, featuring Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Chitrangada Singh, has been revealed. The trailer gives off an eerie and spooky vibe, accompanied by some intense dialogues.

The story revolves around wheelchair-bound Meesha, portrayed by the Kedarnath actress, who returns to her ancestral home after several years, only to discover that her father is missing. As the trailer progresses, it unveils some spine-chilling events that keep the audience at the edge of their seats.

Meesha is convinced that something terrible has happened to her father, but is unable to convince anyone else of the same. All the residents of the estate, including her stepmother Rukmini (Chitrangda Singh), insist that nothing is changed. But as time goes by, Meesha is haunted by visions of her father and suspects he might be in danger.

However, no one believes her when she informs them about what she’s seen, including the police. It is up to her to figure out if he’s been murdered, and who could have harmed him.

Gaslight, helmed by Pavan Kripalani, hints at a possibility that Meesha might be caught up in a game or facing an ominous force that only she has the ability to perceive. The psychological thriller also stars Vikrant Massey as her father’s right hand man Kapil, along with Akshay Oberoi, Shishir Sharma and Rahul Dev.

The title of the movie itself implies that there are secrets to be uncovered and that someone is being manipulated, adding to the mystery surrounding the plot.

In the teaser released last week, the three main cast members were seen ‘accidentally’ meeting in an elevator on their way to a film meeting. After discovering they are all headed to the same place, they get trapped inside the elevator with the lights off.

Speaking about her role, the actress said, “It was challenging to get into this role both mentally and physically as she’s a very layered and nuanced character. I hope this film is going to be a thrilling ride for the audience as each scene will keep them at the edge of their seat.”

Gaslight will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31. The director’s last film was the horror-comedy Bhoot Police, starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yami Gautam. He made his directorial debut with Ragini MMS (2011) and also directed Radhika Apte in Phobia (2016).

Khan was last seen opposite Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in Aanand L Rai’s Atrangi Re (2021). She also has the films Ae Watan Mere Watan, Murder Mubarak and Metro... In Dino lined up for release this year.
