So the expectations were sky high when it was announced that this week’s guest was going to be the Neerja actress, accompanied by her cousin and fellow Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor.
Host Karan Johar started off the episode with a monologue about how he would love to get married, not because of the romance of it all, but because he wants to throw a ‘revenge wedding’ where he could purposefully not invite people who didn’t invite him to their weddings.

The director then called on the guests for the night, introducing them as S & M, completely unironically (Sonam being ‘S’ as she is ‘sensational’ and Arjun being ‘M’ as he is the mascot for the show). In all her pregnant glory, Sonam looked stunning and did a fairly decent job of not letting her fans down, barring a lukewarm Rapid Fire round.

When Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor made their debut appearance on the Kouch, they set it on fire, in all sense but literal. Their firecracker of an episode resulted in countless headlines and scandals. The two actresses didn’t hold back, whether it was Ranbir Kapoor (who had just broken up with Padukone) and his philandering ways, Bollywood celebrities and their cosmetic surgeries, and their dating histories. Her appearance on this season was so highly anticipated, that the KWK team put together several Tweets and fan messages for the actress. An amused Sonam clarified that the history-making episode was all in jest.
Opening up about body image issues
When asked about his recent impressive physical transformation, documented on Instagram, Arjun revealed that he had gotten complacent in the last few years and had stopped taking care of himself. He spoke about the challenges of constantly coming up against the standards he had set for himself, both with the kind of performances he had given and his physical appearance. The actor recalled the trolling he had to endure, and the mental toll it took on him, which led to him dealing with his body image issues by working out and getting into shape.

It’s an irrefutable fact that Sonam Kapoor sets the template for Bollywood celebrities on social media. One of the biggest examples of this are her professional photoshoots before every public appearance, a practice that has been freely adopted by the entire industry. The actress aid that she and her sister Rhea Kapoor, who is also her stylist, wanted to credit the designers and brands they were borrowing from in a way that highlights and platforms them perfectly. Arjun and his relationship with Malaika Arora
The Ishaqzaade actor revealed that the decision to be open about his relationship with Malaika Arora came after a lot of thought and deliberation on his part. “I think I’ve lived a life being on the other side of the spectrum. I grew up in a disjointed family, and it was not easy to see what was going on, and still had to accept everything. I can’t just jump on her (Malaika). The first reaction could be ‘What do you mean?’ If you ease people in, they’ll understand.”

Sonam’s temporary amnesia
Whether it was pregnancy brain (as the actress claimed) or it was her general lack of filter, Sonam displayed a hilarious lack of knowledge about everything that is going on around her in the industry. During the Rapid Fire round, she was asked about the top actor in Bollywood, according to her, she answered Ranbir Kapoor, as she felt he was everywhere these days promoting his movie with Ayan Mukerjee and Johar. When a hysterical Johar tried to get her to recall the name of the movie, the actress answered “Shiva No 1”, leaving both the host and her fellow guest in splits. Easily one of the most memorable moments from the show.
