Rihanna Unites The Powers Of Manish Malhotra And Sabyasachi

When Rihanna performed in Jamnagar for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s pre-wedding celebration, we saw her dressed in a sheer, body-hugging dress under a hot pink sherwani (which she took off during the performance. She paired her outfit with a whole lot of traditional Indian jewellery. And like most things she wears and does, the ensemble became iconic.

And on Tuesday night, the multihyphenate showcased her love for Indian fashion and craftsmanship once again by layering necklaces by two of India’s top designers — Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi Mukherjee.

As she attended an event for her brand, Fenty Hair, in Los Angeles, RiRi sported a maroon monotone look comprising an oversized jacket, a matching camisole and maxi skirt.

She accessories her fiery ensemble with a ruby choker, crafted in 18k gold and encrusted with custom-cut rubies and diamonds from Manish Malhotra High Jewellery collection. And then, layered it with a three-drop rubellite necklace from Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery — thus delivering a masterclass in how to elevate western wear with traditional Indian jewellery and also making it the first time any celebrity has ever paired the two labels in one look.

She sported blonde highlights on the end of her natural hair and her clean yet high glam make-up look let her ensemble do all the talking.

This isn’t the first time international celebrities have sported pieces from these two ace designers. Jennifer Lopez, Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Aniston have previously worn Manish Malhotra designs. And the VIP client list is even longer when it comes to Sabya, with names ranging from Oprah to Gigi Hadid.

India has been making their mark on the global fashion map lately — from homegrown designers displaying their collections at prestigious fashion weeks across the world and celebrities around the world opting to wear their masterpieces on some of the coveted red carpets of the world.

The world is recognising with India as a hub for fashion and craftsmanship and we’re so here for it!
