The country has been waiting with bated breath to see the opulent wedding celebrations of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani. After getting engaged in a grand ceremony in December 2022, the youngest son of one of India’s biggest business tycoons, Mukesh Ambani, Anant will wed his childhood sweetheart Radhika, the daughter of Shaila and Viren Merchant, the billionaire CEO of Encore Healthcare. Their wedding festivities will reportedly be hosted from March 1 to 3, 2024, at the Ambani family farmhouse i.e. Reliance Greens in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
With a few weeks to go, the illustrious families gathered at the sprawling farmhouse (which also houses a zoo, lovingly cared for by Anant himself) to kickstart the wedding celebrations with a traditional function called ‘Lagan Lakhvanu’. This ceremony entails writing the invitations that would first be offered to the Gods, and then to the close and extended family.
For this intimate wedding function, Radhika Merchant opted to gracefully shine by harnessing the power of florals and diamonds! Dressed in a pastel masterpiece by Anamika Khanna, Radhika’s off-white and mint green lehenga and blouse were covered in vibrant coloured floral embroidery, sequin and brocade panelling as well as an ornate golden border. The mint green dupatta perfectly complemented the design of her lehenga.
The intricate detailing of the lehenga set the perfect juxtaposition to her jewellery, which was anything but intricate. It consisted of a stunning and blinding three-tiered pear-diamond necklace, matching earrings, bracelet and a diamond mang tikka.
As for the hair and make-up, Radhika opted for a center-parted half-up hairdo, with her tresses gracefully framing her face and cascading over one shoulder. She also stuck to her natural but rosy make-up look, with a flawless base, smokey eyes, feathered brows and the same shade of glossy pink applied on her cheeks and lips.
Anamika Khanna also designed bespoke pastel lehengas for all the women of the family, with custom pieces for Nita Ambani and Isha Ambani created in collaboration with their intiative Swadesh, a platform that preserves India’s age-old textile crastmanships and handmade traditions.
A few weeks ago, the wedding invitation of the couple’s nuptials reportedly went viral on social media, which included a handwritten note penned by Nita and Mukesh Ambani. An excerpt reads, “We have created our most treasured memories in Jamnagar over the last 25 years, making it the location we hold dearest. As we celebrate the start of Radhika and Anant’s wedding festivities, we hope to see you there!”
The couple were engaged in Srinathji in December 2022, and the religious ceremony was followed by a blowout bash at Antilia, their residence in Mumbai. The celebration saw the country’s movers and shakers in attendance.
