Shubman Gill can do it all. Whether it’s establishing his reputation as one of the most bankable cricket players on the field or fronting a beloved designer label’s fashion campaign, the unofficial crown prince of the current Indian cricket scene wears many hats effortlessly.

His remarkable performance on field has gained the attention and love of not just the country but the world. A testament to his rising status as a Gen-Z icon was when he was roped in to voice Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse’s Hindi and Punjabi version.

And now, Shubman Gill has added yet another feather to his crowded hat, by being named the brand ambassador for G-SHOCK’s new campaign that celebrates their 40th anniversary.

“I’m excited to be a part of the G-SHOCK family. They have made a mark among the Gen Z and Millennials for their trendy yet durable designs. As a cricketer, I acknowledge the value of a good partnership. A durable partnership can change the course of the game and I believe G-SHOCK watches prove to be reliable in the ‘partnership’ of timekeeping, along with their innovative designs! It’s this shared belief that makes me happy about this collaboration,” said the cricketer on being the new face of the brand.

We managed to catch up with the ace batsman at the brand’s campaign unveiling in Delhi recently and got him to spill his style secrets. Here’s an excerpt from our chat…

HELLO!: Which was the first watch you ever owned?

Shubman Gill: “G-SHOCK was the first watch that was gifted to me. I think I was 11 at the time and my cousin gifted it to me. To be able to have an association with a brand that already has such a special place in my heart is really wonderful.”

H!: Which celebrity’s watch collection would you love to raid?

SG: “There are so many! But I think Shah Rukh (Khan’s). Everyone wants a piece of his watch collection!”

H!: What is your style mantra?

SG: “It’s a bit edgy. I’ve always resonated with people who manage to find a balance between edgy and elegant. I like to find a combination of that with my style too.”

H!: You’re one of the most stylish Gen-Z icons in the country currently. Who influences your style?

SG: “Someone who really influenced my style is Zayn Malik. I really like his style. And also, Neymar Jr!”

H!: What are you saying HELLO! to this year?

SG: (Smiles) “Hopefully, the World Cup!”
