11 New Onscreen Pairs We Can’t Wait To Watch In 2024

If you consider yourself a movie buff, 2024 is set to be an exciting year for you. With some highly-anticipated films releasing this year, we’re going to be treated to a bunch of never-seen-before onscreen pairings. As we see the boundaries between Bollywood and the South Indian industry rapidly blurring, we’re seeing crossovers in terms of superstars from the different industries joining forces to create nationwide box-office successes.

While Katrina Kaif paired opposite Vijay Sethupati has fans excited for their upcoming collaboration, Merry Christmas, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s beachy music video from their film, Fighter, has netizens talking about their fiery chemistry. So without further ado, here are some new on-screen pairs we can’t wait to watch this year:

9 Never-Seen-Before Onscreen Pairs We’ll Be Seeing In 2024:

1. Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone - Fighter

Directed by Siddharth Anand, Fighter is set to be the country’s first aerial action franchise. The music videos from the film have already been released and are garnering views by the millions, all thanks to Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone not just looking like they should be memorialised in stone, but also credit to their sizzling chemistry. The film, which will be released on January 25, 2024, also features Anil Kapoor and Karan Singh Grover.

2. Deepika Padukone and Prabhas - Project K

Two of the country’s biggest stars, Deepika Padukone and Prabhas are reportedly joining forces for a dystopian sci-fi film tentatively titled Project K or Kalki 2898AD. Helmed by Nag Ashwin, the film features an ensemble cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. Being produced on a budget of a whopping Rs 600 crore, its allegedly the most expensive Indian film to ever be made.

3. Pooja Hegde and Shahid Kapoor - Deva

Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde have established themselves as talent powerhouses who can adapt to any role with ease. The two will be paired together for the first time in Roshan Andrew’s signature dramas, which will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions. The film’s plot follows a police officer, who is equal parts brilliant and rebellious, as he investigates a high-profile case that promises to lead him down a dangerous path.

4. Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna - Chaava

Collaborating once again with his Zara Hatke Zara Bachke director, Laxman Utekar, Vicky Kaushal is set to share screen space with the talented and charming Rashmika Mandanna. While not many details are currently known about the upcoming film which is reportedly titled Chaava, it is rumoured to release in December 2024.

5. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupati - Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas is set to be a crime thriller and one of the biggest reasons why it’s so highly-anticipated is because fans can’t wait to see Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupati together onscreen. This bilingual film not only marks Kat’s debut in Tamil films but will also be director Sriram Raghavan’s (Of Andhadhun fame) first venture into the industry. The film will be released in cinemas on January 12, 2024.

6. Kriti Sanon and Shahid Kapoor - Untitled Film

While Dinesh Anand’s upcoming project hasn’t been titled yet and is in it’s post-production phase, fans were treated to a glimpse of his upcoming production recently. A poster featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon embracingly lovingly on a bike, against the backdrop of a beach sunset, with the worlds ‘The Impossible Lovestory” scrawled on the top, was enough to send the netizens into a frenzy, thanks to this never-seen-before onscreen pair.

7. Sidharth Malhotra And Disha Patani - Yodha

Sidharth Malhotra has received immense love and success every time he steps into the role of a defence personnel. And this time, it’s with the studio and producer that brought to him to Bollywood debut i.e. Dharma and Karan Johar. The film is set to feature two female leads, the first is India’s answer to a ‘Bond Girl’, Disha Patani and the second is Raashii Khanna, who has made her mark in Telugu and Tamil films.

8. Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda - Family Star

Mrunal Thakur and Vijay Deverakonda are also among the new onscreen pairs we’ll be seeing in 2024 and the two will star opposite each other in a drama film called Family Star. Initially slotted to release in January, the release date of the film has been postponed to March as per reports. While fans are expecting to see undeniable chemistry between Vijay and Mrunal, rumours of Rashmika Mandanna making a special appearance have also turned up the excitement levels.

9. Devara – NTR Jr and Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor is going back to her maternal roots by making her debut in the Telugu film industry with Devara: Part 1. She will be sharing the screen with Jr NTR and the film is directed by Kortala Siva. It is going to be released on April 5, 2024, and fans will be delighted to the RRR actor go back to performing some mindblowing stunts in the action-drama.

10. Don 3 - Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani

After legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan taking on the character of Don, the audience had a mixed response to Ranveer Singh being cast at the iconic baddie, whent he news surfaced last year. If history is any proof, the 38-year-old has no trouble slipping into the skin of his characters and makes it his own, effortlessly, so to us, the skepticism seems a little premature. The topic regained interest this week once again with the announcement of Kiara Advani being brought onboard to play the female lead. The film is reportedly slated for a 2025 release, but we already can’t wait to see it given its electrifying starcast.

11. Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri

When the first part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa featuring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan released, it was a major box office success. And even after 17 years, the film is deeply ingrained within our pop culture. Manjulika returned to our lives once again in 2022, with Kartik Aaryan taking on the role of the ‘ghostbuster’ and Kiara Advani playing his love interest. Now, with the announcement of the third installment releasing in Diwali 2024, there’s some exciting star members to look out for. While Triptii Dimri will join the Anees Basmee-directed franchise with the third film, Vidya Balan is also set to reprise her role as Manjulika!
