When Zoya Akhtar revealed that she would be helming the Indian version of Archie comics with her movie The Archies, the responses were mixed.
While many expressed their excitement at the talented director taking on the project of adapting the iconic characters in a Bollywood movie, there were many who wanted the makers to leave the beloved comic book series alone.
It didn’t help that she announced that the movie would act as the launch vehicle of Bollywood’s next generation during the height of the nepotism debate online and feature debuting actors like the daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, the daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, Khushi Kapoor, and the grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Agastya Nanda.
There’s no denying that Akhtar is a master of her craft and has proven that with solid critical and popular hits like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Gully Boy, and Dil Dhadakne Do. Earlier in 2022, we got a teaser for the movie which introduced the cast and was enough to get us excited about the upcoming adaptation.
Cast Of The Archies
Now that the filming of the movie has been wrapped and we’re coming closer to seeing it on the big screen, we decided to delve a little into the all-new cast of the movie. So, without further ado, meet the cast of Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.
Suhana Khan
If the teaser is to be believed, then Khan is going to play the role of Veronica, the spoilt rich heiress from Riverdale. The young actress had already been famous long before it was revealed that she was going to be a part of the movie. Being the daughter of one of the biggest actors in not only the country, but the world, made her the target of paparazzi for a long time. Khan also boasts of a whopping 3.1 million followers on Instagram and is regularly featured on the feeds of her best friends and fellow star kids Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor.
Khushi Kapoor
Kapoor comes from a family of actors and big movie personalities. Aside from being the daughter of one of Bollywood’s most prolific producers and the first female superstar of the country, Kapoor is closely related to Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and is the younger sister of Janhvi Kapoor. She is going to be playing Betty in the movie and has already been seen sporting the characteristic bangs for the role.
Agastya Nanda
The main man Archie Andrews will be played by Agastya Nanda, who is making his Bollywood debut with the film. He comes with the baggage of being a part of not one, but two legendary film families. He is the grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and the great-grandson of Raj Kapoor.
Dot
Dot, or Aditi Saigal, is a singer-songwriter and is already popular in the indie music circuit. She is the daughter of late rockstar Amit Saigal, who was also the founder of India’s first rock magazine Rock Street Journal. So far, we don’t know what role she would be playing in the movie but our bets are on Midge Klump.
Vedang Raina
Akhtar’s Reggie Mantle might be a new face on the big screen but is already popular online for his song covers of popular tracks.
Mihir Ahuja
It’s easy to guess who Mihir Ahuja would be playing in the movie with the hat and his arms full of food. Unlike most of the other cast members, this won’t be Ahuja’s first time on screen. The actor has been a part of projects like Super 30, Dolly Aur Kitty Ke Chamakte Sitare, and Bard of Blood.
Yuvraj Menda
The Indian version of the bespectacled Dilton Doiley is played by Yuvraj Menda who collaborates with popular Instagram choreographers for viral dance videos online.
