Move over, Glass Skin! There’s a new beauty trend in town. Behold the easier and more wearable sister of the Glass Skin and Glazed Donut Skin family: The Pearl Skin.

The luxurious and luminescent beauty trend has already taken the Internet by storm, racking in more than 40 million views across social media platforms.

What Is Pearl Skin?

Pearl Skin is another variation of the Internet-favourite dewy complexion that requires fewer products and effort to achieve than Glass Skin. The trend gives the skin a light and delicate glow that resembles the sheen of pearls.

How is Pearl Skin different from Glass Skin?

While both beauty trends focus on dewy and glowing skin, there are many differences between the two. Unlike it’s predecessor, Pearl Skin focusses on a natural glow that looks more soft and silky than shiny and wet.

For glass skin, the focus was on hydration and making sure the skin looks plump and well moisturised by layering (or slugging) skincare and make-up products. For Pearl Skin, the focus is on creating a dewy base and then highlighting the high points of the face with a strobe-like effect.

How To Get The Pearl Skin Look?

The key to achieving the look is to focus on skin prep. You should go for a light coverage foundation or a tinted moisturiser as the base of your look.

According to the trend adopters, cream products will help everything meld together and will result in a a more natural look, which is one of the major characteristic of the Pearl Skin trend.

To achieve the look, here are a few steps you can follow:

  • Go for a luminescent base, like a strobe cream or an illuminating primer. This will allow your skin to look like it has a natural glow.
  • Opt for a light coverage foundation or a tinted moisturiser that doesn’t mask the glow from the dewy base.
  • Apply liquid highlighter on the high points of your face. Make sure to blend it onto the apple of your cheeks and along the cheekbones. You can also apply it to your temples and brow bones for an added glow.
  • Swipe a clear gloss on your lips as the final step.

So, will you be giving the Pearl Skin trend a try?
