The wait is (almost) over! House of the Dragon is returning with a new season in a few months which promises to be filled with war, vengeful blonde people and of course, dragons.

The prequel to Game of Thrones redeemed the original show in the eyes of disgruntled fans worldwide. Based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 novel Fire & Blood, the series chronicles the civil war that led to the decline of the House of Targaryen, hundreds of years before the events of GoT and the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.

After an explosive first season, the show is set to come back with a second one which will finally get into the battle involving the Targaryens and their dragons. Rhaenyra and her uncle/husband Daemon have rallied supporters to fight for her right to be King Viserys’ successor to the throne. On the other side, Alicent and Viserys’ son Aegon has been crowned as the king by the plotters which include Alicent’s dad Otto Hightower and the unpleasant Ser Cristan Cole.

Recently, HBO released two trailers to give fans a peek into what they can expect from the upcoming season. Titled the ‘Black trailer’ and the ‘Green trailer’, based on each warring side’s house colours, the previews focussed on the lead-up to the war that would ultimately decide the question that never has a satisfactory answer: who will sit on the Iron Throne?

What is House of the Dragon Season 2 going to be about?

While the plot for season two is still under wraps, it’s safe to assume that the season will build up to the imminent war between Team Black and Team Green. Since the show is based on Martin’s finished novel Fire & Blood, the plot details are out there already, unless the makers decide to shock viewers with unexpected twists and turns. Anybody who has read the book, or seen Game of Thrones, knows that the war is not going to have a happy ending either way for the Targaryen clan.

Along with King Aegon (and the scheming Team Green), Rhaenyra and Daemon also have to face off against Aemond, after he killed Rhaenyra’s son Luke with the help of his dragon Vhagar, who also happens to be the largest in the world.

Who is going to star in House of the Dragon Season 2?

The two trailers have made it clear that the original cast from the first season is returning from the show (except for the ones who perished, RIP King Viserys!). So, we will be seeing Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Eve Best, Rhys Ifans, Tom Glynn-Carney, Ewan Mitchell, Steve Toussaint and Fabien Frankel in the second season.

The series’ showrunner Ryan Condal has confirmed that there are going to be five new dragons in the second season.

Where can you watch House of the Dragon Season 2 in India?
