Will The ‘House Of The Dragon’ Be Good Enough To Redeem The Contentious ‘Game Of Thrones’ Final Season?

In a world that is divided on almost all major and minor issues, there’s only one thing that unites us all and that is the irrefutable fact that the last season of Game of Thrones was the worst and tainted what could have been a towering legacy post its finale.

But there’s good news for the fans who still have embers of hope of redemption in their hearts as a prequel centered around the Targaryens and their dragons, called House of The Dragon, is coming to our screens very soon.

What will the show be about?

House of the Dragon will be set 200 years before the events of the original show, the series will chronicle the beginning of the end of the House of Targaryen, who you would recall having names like Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow in their family tree.

A new trailer for the show dropped recently, that gave fans a glimpse at all the dark, royal drama they can expect from the show.

Much like the original show, the prequel will also focus on several key characters’ quest to gain control of the throne through any means necessary.

Who all are in the show?

Because of the timeline, it’s highly unlikely that you’d spot a familiar GoT cast member in the show. But they’re plenty of new names to be excited about. Doctor Who’s Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith is donning the trademark Targaryen silver wig and playing the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen, who is King Viserys’ younger brother. Actress Emma D’Arcy is playing King Viserys’ first-born daughter Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Daemon’s niece and competitor to the throne (and potential love interest, according to the books. Don’t worry, incest is as common as bloodshed in the GoTverse). The show also stars Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, and Rhys Ifans.

When can we see the show?

The show will premiere worldwide on August 21, 2022 and you can stream it on Disney+ Hotstar.

Will it help me recover from the disastrous GoT finale and clear my skin?

You’ll just have to wait and see.
