Whether you’re a rabid car enthusiast or someone who can’t tell their engines apart from their windshield wipers, there’s no way you aren’t aware of the rise of EVs around.

With the growing awareness around climate change and eco-friendly innovations that allow a sustainable lifestyle, electric vehicles (or EVs) are emerging as a solid and cleaner alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars.

Volvo is one of the few brands that are making luxury EVs a possibility in the country. Late last year, the Swedish car makers released XC40 Recharge, India’s first locally-assembled luxury SUV.

Assembled in the company’s Bengaluru facility, over 200 XC40 Recharges have been delivered to mindful car owners across the country. Ever since its launch, it has also received multiple honours in various categories for its design, the innovative technology it utilises, and its positive impact on the environment.

For those of you who know your way around cars, the XC40 Recharge is one of the quickest cars in the space, making it possible to go from zero to 100 mph in less than five seconds. It also happens to be one of the most powerful cars amongst its ilk, with a power output of 408 hp and a massive peak torque of 660 Nm.

One of the biggest concerns with EVs is its battery. Aside from our cell phones, earphones, smartwatches, and the millions of other chargeable accessories to keep track of, it’s daunting to think that you have to worry about your car’s battery life too. The Volvo XC40 Recharge, however, comes equipped with a 78 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The large battery helps the EV run for more than 400 km on a single charge. And if that’s not enough, you also get in-built Google infotainment, one pedal drive, and leather-free interiors!
