The garments are made using recycled fishing nets and other plastic waste from the ocean. The accessories from the brand are handmade by artisans in a bid to promote the local cottage industry. The label also champions ocean clean up by highlighting the work of small organisations that work towards the cause.

Esha Lal Swimwear

A deep love for tropical destinations prompted botanical watercolour artist Esha Lal to merge her two interests to create her eponymous swimwear label. The label’s creations feature vibrant prints that are one-of-a-kind as they are original illustrations by the artist. The label also uses ECONYL regenerated yarn and 100% ethically grown organic cotton for the collections. Not only are the swimwear items sustainable on their own, they come with seed paper tags that are biodegradable , 100% wood free and made using cotton scraps.

Designer duo Vezotolu Vadeo and Shilpi Mishra conceptualised IZSI, a swimwear label, with the thought to create but not just for the sake of creating. With a firm belief of shunning mass production, the label’s unique and sustainable pieces feature prints and embroideries that are hand done by local artisans. The clothes come in compostable packaging and are made from certified recycled eco-friendly polyester.

Maarteeni

This recently-launched label considers conservation to be its top priority. Its size inclusive swimwear is made using recycled plastic waste to reduce negative impact on the environment. The brand takes on a season-agnostic philosophy that allows them to create swimwear that lasts.
