A Guinness World Record has been broken and it’s a big one! Dr Ali Irani and Sujoy Kumar Mitra have broken a previous world record for the fastest time to travel to all seven continents by accomplishing it in just four days!

Irani and Mitra travelled to the seven continents of the world, including Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America, Antarctica, and Oceania, in four days. Or three days, one hour, five minutes, and four seconds to be precise!

The duo began their journey on 4th December in Antarctica and finished it on 7th December in Melbourne, Australia.

Both Irani and Mitra are seasoned travellers. 64-year-old Irani used to be the physiotherapist for the Indian Cricket Team and has travelled all around the world. Mitra’s love for travel made him quit his corporate job to become an entrepreneur with a travel-based business.

“Travelling transcends boundaries and unites people around the world. Breaking a world record for something we both are so passionate about is a very satisfying feeling. We are humbled by this achievement and hope it will contribute in some way to get more people to travel and explore our beautiful world,” said Irani on the remarkable feat.

Mitra said, “It is an honour to be Guinness world record holders but we also believe that records are meant to be broken. This journey may have ended but there are many more milestones for us to achieve. Today, we may have been successful in breaking a record, tomorrow someone else will break our record. So, enjoy the struggle, cherish the hardships, aspire to fail better and the magic will happen!”.

Previously, the record was held by Dr Khawla Al Romaithi, from UAE, who travelled to all seven continents in three days, 14 hours, 46 minutes, and 48 seconds.
