Sonam Kapoor Is Going To Represent India At This Prestigious Event

Actress Sonam Kapoor has been extended a special invitation by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, to attend a prestigious reception during UK-India Week 2023. The event, organised by the India Global Forum (IGF), aims to honour and strengthen the longstanding partnership between the two nations.

Kapoor, who currently resides in London with her husband, businessman Anand Ahuja, and their son Vayu, will represent India at the reception. Having previously showcased her talent at King Charles III’s coronation concert through a captivating spoken word performance, Kapoor’s attendance at the event is highly anticipated.

The reception is scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister’s official residence and office, 10 Downing Street, on Wednesday. As part of her participation, Kapoor is expected to speak about India and its cultural influence across the globe. The event is one of the highlights of the UK-India Week 2023, a weeklong program encompassing crucial discussions on topics such as politics, trade, business, sustainability, inclusion, and innovation.

The India Global Forum’s annual UK-India Week has become a significant fixture in the bilateral calendar of both nations, fostering new trade ties and lasting collaborations. PM Sunak expressed his confidence that this partnership would be a defining one for the present era, emphasising the positive impact it would have on the people of both countries.

The Neerja actress, who relocated to London during the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in India, has since become an active member of the London community. She tied the knot with Anand Ahuja in 2018, and the couple frequently travelled to London before deciding to make the city their permanent home. Kapoor often shares glimpses of her life in the UK on social media and makes visits to her family in India.

In August 2022, Kapoor and Ahuja welcomed their first child, son Vayu Kapoor Ahuja, in India. Following the birth, the couple returned to their London residence. Kapoor’s upcoming project, Blind, directed by Shome Makhija, features a talented ensemble cast including Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak, Lilette Dubey, and Shubham Saraf. The film is set to stream on Jio Cinema starting July 7.

Kapoor’s presence at PM Sunak’s reception adds a touch of glamour to UK-India Week 2023, which is being held from 26 June to 30 June, and highlights the ongoing cultural exchange between the two nations. Her participation is expected to further strengthen the bond between the United Kingdom and India, setting the stage for fruitful collaborations and a brighter future.
