A single-minded determination to achieve a goal, combined with a passion to fight for justice while keeping empathy at the fore. All of this, and a little more, is what helped Cyril Shroff bring his law firm to the number one spot—not once, but twice—in a country as vast as India.

A managing partner at Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas and an eminent corporate lawyer, he’s the most trusted advisor to his clients and a true leader. As the grandson of Amarchand Shroff, who pioneered the 106-year-old law firm Amarchand and Mangaldas, Cyril expanded the scale and scope of the firm over the last few decades.

His forward-thinking nature made him adopt moves such as shifting the original Mumbai office away from its outpost in Dadar to a swanky setup in Parel. It also pushed him to hire talent straight out of the National Law School lineup, enabling an unprecedented growth for the firm.

In 2015, when the original firm split in two, one could not have foreseen the rapid pace at which Cyril would spur the growth of his half of the agency, bringing it back to the number one spot once again. Though one may imagine him to be married to his work, in reality, he has a keen creative side, as well. He enjoys making charcoal sketches, watching Hindi films and musicals, and delights in eating good Chinese food!
