Alia Bhatt Exudes Royalty At The IOC Opening Ceremony in Mumbai

Alia Bhatt is a bonafide style maven. At the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Culture Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai, the 30-year-old lived up to her reputation, as she walked the red carpet with her actor-husband, Ranbir Kapoor.

The Gangubai Kathiawadi actor was dressed in a gorgeous dark blue, silk velvet kurta set by Sureena Chowdhri. Atop, the aysymmetrical kurta featured a plunging neckline and flared sleeves, embellished with aari and zardosi embroidery as well as mirror, sitara, bead and cutdana work. While the matching flared, ankle-length palazzos accentuated the standout silhouette of this outfit, the contrasting organza scalloped dupatta with round mirror motifs draped over Alia’s shoulders added to its elegance.

Alia Bhatt completed this stunning traditional look with statement chaand balis and nude pink heels. For makeup, the actor opted for a rosy pink look and topped it off with a matching bindi. The actor also made sure that the outfit did the talking, by pulling her hair back into a sleek bun.

However, what made this look a winner for us was that Alia made sure that the shade of her kurta set was almost the same as Ranbir Kapoor’s navy blue bandhgala, which her wore over a whitekurta set. This is what we call twinning and winning!

The IOC ceremony, which was inaugrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also saw the biggest celebrities and sportmen from the country in attendance. Olympic winners Neeraj Chopra and Abhinav Bindra, champion boxer Nikhat Zareen, Indian tennis legend Leander Paes, ace wrestler Bajrang Punia, the Indian Hockey Team and actor Deepika Padukone are just some of the names on the star-studded guest list. This is the second time India is hosting the prestigious IOC session in the country, since 1983.
