7 TV Shows & Movies We’re Excited To Stream In May 2023

It’s May and we’re officially entering the Summer season. Along with quick weekend getaways to colder destinations and breaking out your summer wardrobe, we’re super stoked for all the new TV shows and movies making their way to our favourite streaming platforms this month.

This is the month of spin-offs, with Bridgerton’s much-anticipated prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and To All The Boys film series’ spin-off XO, Kitty releasing soon. We also have many exciting Indian web series starring kicka*s female leads, with Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo and Dahaad premiering this month.

Without further ado, look at the list of some of the most exciting new titles we’re looking forward to watching online in May 2023…

Queen Charlotte: Bridgerton Story (4 May)

This prequel series gives us a look at one of the best Bridgerton characters’ story. With the new TV show, we’ll see how Queen Charlotte, played by the wonderful Golda Rosheuvel in the original series, fell in love with Prince George and her ascent to the top.

Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo (5 May)

This series by director Homi Adajania not only has an exciting premise but has a pretty amazing ensemble cast with Dimple Kapadia, Naseeruddin Shah, Deepak Dobriyal, Radhika Madan, Angira Dhar, and Isha Talwar. The story follows a family where the matriarch (Kapadia) and her daughter-in-laws and daughter run a textile business, which is actually just a front for the biggest drug operation in South Asia.

Queen Cleopatra (10 May)

This docudrama, starring Jada Pinkett Smith and Adele James, came into controversy even before its release for showing Cleopatra being played by a Black woman. As the name suggests, the four-part series features reenactments and expert interviews to piece together the life of the extraordinary ruler of Egypt.

Dahaad (12 May)

After many delays, Reema Kagti’s Dahaad is finally set to release this month. Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah, the show follows a police officer as she investigates the horrifying murder of 27 women. The show premiered at the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival and has been gaining critical acclaim.

High Desert (17 May)

Patricia Arquette stars in this dark comedy series about an on-and-off-again addict who decides to turn her life around after her mother’s death. She moves into a small town and makes a fresh start as a private investigator.

XO, Kitty (18 May)

If you loved To All The Boys film series, then you cannot miss this one which follows the story of Lara Jean’s little sister. Kitty Covey moves to Korea to learn more about her late mother’s culture and life and reconnect with her long-distance boyfriend. The show will follow her adventures with a totally new culture, new school, and potential new love interests.

Kathal (19 May)

Sanya Malhotra stars in this comedy-drama movie that has been inspired by true events. She plays a policewoman who has been tasked with solving the bizarre mystery of the missing jackfruits from a local politician’s garden.
