Ram Charan & Jr. NTR Win Big At Critics Choice Super Awards

SS Rajamouli’s RRR may have earned just one nomination at the Oscars, but its lead actors and the film are now competing with Hollywood’s best at the Critics Choice Super Awards.

The magnum opus has been nominated in the Critics Choice Super Awards in the Best Action Movie category, along with Top Gun: Maverick, Bullet Train, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent and The Woman King.

Both Ram Charan and Jr NTR are competing against each other for Best Actor in an Action Film category. They are also going head to head with Hollywood bigwigs including Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Nicolas Cage.

RRR has been earning accolades ever since it was released in the US last year. The film is a period drama that features Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the tribal leader Komaram Bheem, and the revolutionary Alluri Sita Rama Raju, respectively. The fictional saga, set in pre-independence India, explores their friendship and highlights their fight against oppression.

The cast includes Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, and Ray Stevenson. It was released in theatres on March 25, 2022 and collected nearly Rs 1,200 crore worldwide, and is also being re-released in 200 theatres in the US ahead of Oscars 2023.

The 3rd Annual Critics Choice Super Awards winners will be revealed via a press release on March 16, 2023.
