Two powerhouse performers from the Telugu film industry are coming together to have an epic face-off in Netflix’s upcoming web series Rana Naidu and the trailer promises an action-packed ride.

Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh are all set to star in the remake of the popular American show Ray Donovan by the OTT giant. The actors, who are related in real life, are going to play an estranged father-son duo in the show.

Helmed by director Karan Anshuman and Suparn Verma, the show follows the titular Rana (played by Daggubati) who is the go-to guy for celebrities who want to get out of trouble. His father Naga (played by Venkatesh) gets released from prison and Rana has to deal with all the demons that come along with his father while protecting his family from him.

At the trailer launch for the series, Daggubati spoke about the challenges of filming with his uncle. “In this show, I had to hate the person I love the most and that’s my uncle. It is very hard to use foul language because it was stressing him and stressing me too. It was fine as long as it was in Hindi but in Telugu, it was too much. That was the most difficult part,” he said.

“It was not the usual kind of family drama. I am not soft with him. We are not singing songs. This isn’t what people will expect from us. This is very different. There are some hard-hitting dialogues. But it was really nice and I am really glad that we got to do it. There is a lot of work in it,” said Venkatesh on working with his nephew on the show.

Netflix’s Rana Naidu will be available to stream on March 10, 2023.
