On the occasion of Republic Day, Sunny Deol shared the first look of the upcoming sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha with his fans.
The 2001 superhit went on to become one of the most iconic movies in Bollywood history, owing to its over-the-top action sequences and memorable dialogues. Now, after two decades, the movie is back with a much-anticipated sequel and it looks as action-packed as ever.
Deol shared the poster on his Instagram with the caption “This Independence Day, we bring to you the biggest sequel in Indian cinema after two decades.”
The poster has a sledgehammer-wielding Tara Singh (Deol’s character in the movie) standing amidst a wreckage with, what looks like, soldiers behind him.
The movie will be helmed by Anil Sharma, the same director who gave the original hit. Along with Deol, Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma will be reprising their roles in the movie.
While the plot details haven’t been revealed yet, we also know that Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, and Gaurav Chopra will play pivotal roles.
If you remember, the 2001 movie went head-to-head with Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan as the two mega hits were released on the same day. The 2023 sequel will also be released on the same day as another highly-anticipated movie, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
The movie is slated to release in theatres on August 11, 2023.
