SS Rajamouli’s RRR featuring Ram Charan and Jr. NTR continues its march towards global dominance, and has acquired admirers from all over the world, including Avatar filmmaker James Cameron.

After scoring at the Golden Globes for ‘Naatu Naatu’ as Best Song, the film bagged two awards at the Critics Choice Awards. The catchy dance track won for Best Song and the film nabbed Best Foreign Language Film Award. While the RRR team is over the moon with the wins, what came as the bona fide cherry on the top was filmmaker James Cameron’s praise for the movie at the event.

Rajamouli took to Twitter to share a picture and express his excitement over one of Hollywood’s biggest directors waxing eloquent about his magnum opus.

The director and the movie’s music composer M.M Keeravaani revealed that Cameron, who is basking in the success of Avatar: The Way of Water, had watched RRR twice. Sharing a couple of pictures, Rajamouli wrote, “The great James Cameron watched RRR.. He liked it so much that he recommended it to his wife Suzy and watched it again with her. Sir I still cannot believe you spent a whole 10 minutes with us analysing our movie. As you said I AM ON TOP OF THE WORLD... Thank you both.”

While accepting the Critics Choice Award for ‘Naatu Naatu’, composer Keeravani expressed his gratitude at the ceremony, and thanked his team, saying that he was rather overwhelmed. “The great James Cameron has watched RRR twice and gave feedback on my score !!! Ocean full of excitement,” he shared.

RRR became a global sensation after its release in March last year and subsequent streaming on Netflix. Several Western filmmakers and viewers have been appreciating the film since then. The official Twitter handle of RRR shared the tweet and wrote, “James Cameron admires RRR...LOVE YOUU SIRRR @JimCameron #RRRMovie

The epic drama, which is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu freedom fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, was also nominated for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Visual Effects at the Critics Choice Awards. This further increases RRR’s chances at the Oscars in March of earning a nomination at the Academy Awards 2023, and also winning the trophy.

The film has made it to the shortlist, and the nominations would be announced later this month. The film also stars Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in extended cameos.
