‘Naatu Naatu’ From ‘RRR’ Wins At Golden Globes 2023

SS Rajamouli’s epic period action film RRR has been making waves in the US and has been at the forefront of all major award conversations recently. The movie kicked off the award season with a major win at the recently held Golden Globes by scoring the trophy for Best Original Song at the show.

Music composer MM Kreevani, along with singers Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, has won the award for his song ‘Naatu Naatu’, beating the likes of Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga.

Director Rajamouli and the lead actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR were also present at the event.

Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Chiranjeevi, Ayushmann Khurrana, and A.R. Rahman took to Twitter to congratulate the makers on the big win.

The movie became a cult phenomenon in the US ever since the Hindi-dubbed version was released on Netflix. Its popularity led to sold-out shows in major theatres across the US and the movie getting on track to all the big award shows this season.

Aside from the Golden Globes, RRR has bagged five nominations at the Critics Choice Awards, been shortlisted in two categories at the Oscars, and one at the BAFTAs. Rajamouli also won the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle award for Best Director.

Previously the award was won by A.R. Rahman for his song ‘Jai Ho’, which was a part of the soundtrack of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008).
