Billionaire Elon Musk learned the hard way that money can’t buy fans, at least not the ones who occupy the dark corners of Reddit and think feminism is causing a happiness crisis in the world.

Musk was recently booed by the audience at Dave Chapelle’s show when he was unexpectedly brought on to the stage by the comedian. Thousands of people at Chase Center in San Francisco expressed their displeasure on seeing Musk on stage. To offset the impact of the boos, Chapelle joked, saying, “It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience.”

When the boos did not stop, he added, “All these people who are booing, and I’m just pointing out the obvious, you have terrible seats.”

Musk has been occupying headlines recently for the controversial decisions he has been making ever since he acquired Twitter for a whopping sum of $44 billion. He started off by laying off nearly half the staff, including senior executives and, reportedly, the people responsible for regulation of hate speech and child expolitation prevention.

Musk, a self-confessed champion fo free speech, re-instated the suspended accounts of controversial figures like Jordan Peterson, Donald Trump, and Kanye West. Though, he had to promptly suspend West’s account again after the rapper went on a podcast to say that he loved Hitler, amidst other anti-semitic statements.

While phones or other filming devices were not permitted inside the stadium, a few clips started surfacing on Twitter. Most of these were promptly deleted from the platform, but there are still a few that are still up there.

According to people who attended the show, Chapelle tried really hard to salvage the show by cracking jokes about how the boos don’t matter as Musk has given him a jet pack for Christmas and he’s going to leave the planet soon. The whole experience was awkward by all accounts, with the comedian getting more hostile as the crowd didn’t let up on booing Musk whenever he tried to speak.

In one video, Musk can be seen asking Chapelle what he should say, to which the comedian replied, “Don’t say nothing. It’ll only spoil the moment,” Chappelle said. “Do you hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest. I can’t wait to see what store you decimate next, motherfucker. You shut the fuck up.”

It was clearly not the reaction both Chapelle and Musk were expecting.
