Julia Roberts is the ultimate queen of the rom-com genre. The actress is known to bring every character to life, especially when it comes to characters in love. From making us cry buckets in My Best Friend’s Wedding to making us dream to be serenaded by someone like Edward Lewis in Pretty Woman, Roberts holds a very special place in our hearts and, also, our watchlist.

Pretty Woman (1990)

The 1990 film revolves around rich businessman, Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) who meets Vivian, a sex worker and convinces her to accompany him to a few important social events as his date. Things start to get complicated when they both fall in love with each other but the major difference between their two worlds threatens to keep them apart.

Ticket To Paradise (2022)

Roberts’ most recent rom-com Ticket To Paradise brings back the iconic duo of Julia Roberts and George Clooney. The film follows Georgia and David, a divorced couple who come together to make an urgent trip to Bali to stop their only daughter from marrying a seaweed farmer. As the couple tries to sabotage their daughter’s wedding, they soon find themselves reigniting their old feelings for each other.

Runaway Bride (1999)

One of the most iconic rom-coms of all time, Runaway Bride, which reunites Roberts and Gere after Pretty Woman, tells the story of Ike, a news reporter in New York, who writes a bashful news article about Maggie Carpenter who has a habit of running away from the altar. After the article costs Ike his job, he sets out to find Maggie and know her true story but soon finds himself falling in love with her, only to live in the fear that he too, will be left at the altar someday.

Notting Hill (1999)

When an ordinary bookstore owner, William, meets a big-time American actress in his small bookstore in Notting Hill, sparks fly instantly. But their dreamy relationship soon gets a reality check when they realise that they belong to two worlds that are poles apart from each other and their relationship might not have the ‘happy ever after’ they had hoped for.

My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997)

My Best Friend’s Wedding follows the lives of two best friends, Julianne and Michael (Dermot Mulroney), who have been by each other’s side for many years. When Julianne finds out that Michael is in love and is going to get married soon, she sets out to stop their wedding and make him marry her instead. Will she be able to stop Michael in time and make him realsie she’s the one he is supposed to be with or will she ruin their friendship? You’ll just have to watch the classic and see.

Valentine’s Day (2010)

The 2010 film, Valentine’s Day, follows the lives of several couples, who have been struggling to find their lost love while some try to seek their one true love. As these couples try to make the day of love even more special, some find themselves reevaluating the true meaning of love.

Larry Crowne (2011)

Co-starring Tom Hanks, the 2011 film follows Larry Crowne, who is a team leader in a retail store but is asked to quit unexpectedly. He then decided to take on a different path and go back to college, only to meet his teacher, Mercedes and fall in love with her. As he navigates his life as an elderly college student, Larry Crowne finds the true meaning of life and love.
