Ever since his first-ever big role film, Masaan, which gained him not only recognition but also various awards for his remarkable performance as Deepak, Kaushal has only been going upwards.

Masaan (2015)

Considered his first major break, the 2015 film Masaan was one of the best movies of that year. The story revolves around Devi, Deepak and Shalu, who have been having their own set of personal battles against society’s old-age norms, while also trying to make their place in the world. Another Anurag Kashyap directorial that showed us a whole new side of Vicky Kaushal, Raman Raghav 2.0 is a thriller crime film that has you on the edge of your seat at all times. Starring alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the movie follows Ramanna, a psychopathic serial killer who finds an unlikely soulmate in the police officer, Raghavan, who is bent on giving him the punishment he deserves.

The Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal-starer, Raazi is one of the greatest films of this generation. The story follows a young undercover RAW agent, Sehmat Khan, who is married into a Pakistani military family to track important information from the country. But as time passes, Sehmat needs to decide whether her love for her husband is greater than her love for her motherland.

URI: The Surgical Strike (2019)

Based on a real-life operation by the Indian Army, URI focuses on Major Vihaan Singh Shergill who, after a deadly attack on Indian soldiers, goes on to lead an operation against Pakistan’s militants who were the cause of the attack at the Uri base camp in Kashmir. The thrilling plot line moved the entire country, with everybody swearing by the movie’s iconic dialogue, “How’s the josh?”

A film that deserved a lot more appreciation, Sardar Udham is one of Vicky Kaushal’s finest performances to date. The story follows the real life of the Indian freedom fighter, Udham Singh, who goes on to seek revenge against Michael O’Dwyer, who was the one behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
