Which Stars Are Taking Over Qatar For The FIFA World Cup?

BTS’ Jungkook recently stole his fans’ hearts by sharing his own version of the ‘Run BTS’ challenge on his Instagram stories. The K-Pop star shared a video flaunting his dance moves as part of the challenge, and gave it his unique, slow-motion spin. See the video below.

Besides his killer dance moves, Jungkook is making headlines ahead of his highly-awaited performance at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on November 20. The singer will be performing at the opening ceremony of the football extravaganza and will also contribute to the official soundtrack.

As the football world cup is inching closer to us, here’s an update of who all will be performing during the mega event, including a few special surprises from our very own B-town. With just 3 days to go for one of the world’s greatest sporting events, featuring 5 cities, 32 teams and 831 players, fans are getting pumped for an entire month of action leading up to the grand finale, scheduled for December 18.

Amidst the excitement, there have been sprinklings of disappointment surrounding the event as well. After English singer Dua Lipa and British musician Rod Stewart reportedly cancelled their performances, citing human rights issues, Shakira’s guest appearance is also shrouded in uncertainty.

So, who is performing?

The star-studded opening at Al Khor’s Al Bayt Stadium in Doha on November 20 is all set to be a big spectacle, with FIFA keeping the names of performers tightly under wraps to retain the element of surprise.

If Colombian singer Shakira, who has regularly performed at the FIFA games, does not cancel, this would be her fourth appearance at the opening ceremony in the history of FIFA World Cup. She has famously performed her pop culture-defining tunes at these events, including ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ in Germany, 2006; ‘Waka Waka’ in South Africa, 2010; and ‘La La La’ with Carlinhos Brown in Brazil, 2014.

BTS member and K-pop star Jungkook has sent his fans in a frenzy after confirmation about his FIFA performance broke out. “Proud to announce that Jungkook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack and will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony. Stay tuned,” a BTS official on Twitter confirmed. Apart from Jungkook, English singer and songwriter Robbie Williams, another FIFA regular, has also reportedly been roped in for the event.

Certain Bollywood stars are also all set to participate in the massive shindig, with Canadian-Moroccan actor Nora Fatehi contributing to the all female-FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 official soundtrack ‘Light The Sky’. She is starring alongside notable Arab singers and actors, including Balqees, Manal and Rahma Riad. Fan favourite B-Town export Ranveer Singh has also been invited to attend and represent India at the grand finale.

Other big names scheduled to perform include Sean Paul, Clean Bandit, Black Eyed Peas, Calvin Harris and Nigerian music sensation Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, popularly known as Patoranking. The FIFA World Cup 2022 Mascot—La’eeb (super-skilled player)—is the statement-making figure of a white, smiling, soccer-playing headdress inspired by the keffiyeh, a traditional headgear worn by Arab men. A star in its own right, if you ask us!
