After so many teasers and behind-the-scenes photos, the official trailer for James Cameron’s sci-fi epic Avatar: The Way of Water is here. The movie is the much-anticipated sequel to Cameron’s 2009 adventure film Avatar.
In the CGI-laden trailer, we revisit Pandora and get a glimpse of new and previously unexplored regions of the fictional planet with some majestic new creatures.
The story is set nearly a decade after the events of the first film and we see a pregnant Neytiri and Na’avi Jake Sully with their kids. There is an impending threat of human invasion that forces them to prepare for war again, this time with the help of a new underwater community of the humanoid species.
Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang are some of the cast members from the previous movie that are returning for the sequel. There are some exciting new additions as well, including Kate Winslet and Edie Falco.
Fans have been eagerly waiting to see more of the fantastical world built by Cameron and the trailer promises an exciting new adventure that would set up the next three movies in the series promised by the director.
Avatar: The Way of Water will release in theaters in multiple languages on December 16, 2022.
