If You’re A Horror Beginner

Hocus Pocus (1993)

A disney classic, Hocus Pocus is the story of the iconic witches trio, the Sanderson sisters, who are resurrected and brought back to present-day Salem, Massachusetts thanks to a virgin teenager. They then go on to cause chaos around the city and the only one who can send them back to where they came from is the one who got them here in the first place.

Yet another Disney Halloween classic, Halloween Town tells the tale of the Piper siblings, who discover that they come from a long line of witches. Soon, they decide to take the journey and follow their grandma into their hometown, Halloween Town, even though their mother is against them going back to the place where she grew up. But things soon start to go south when the family gets attacked by the dark forces.

The ultimate horror film that we absolutely loved when we were kids, The Addams Family is a movie about an eccentric family that is a bit spookier than yours. The story revolves around a family, who are finally reunited with their lost family member, only to discover that it’s an imposter who threatens to steal everything from them.

If You’re Into Dark Comedy

Stree (2018)

One of the best Bollywood Horror-Comedy films that not only leaves you laughing but also keeps you on the edge of your seat, Stree is a movie you have to watch, if you haven’t already. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, and Pankaj Tripathi, the movie revolves around a talented tailor, Vicky, who lives in the small town of Chanderi, that’s been haunted for a years by a paranormal spirit. Vicky, along with his trusted friends and a mysterious new girl in town, tries to unravel the mystery of the spirit and put a stop to her evil ways.

When she goes on a killing spree, the only one that can stop her is her sidekick and best friend, Anita, and she needs to do something before Jennifer attacks her lover, Chip.

The Shining (1980)

A psychological horror film that will leave you questioning your own sanity, The Shining is a classic in this genre. The movie follows Jack and his family, who move into an isolated hotel that was known for its horrific past. But, Jack begins to lose his mind, which ends up affecting his family in worse ways than one could imagine.

One of the scariest films of all time, The Exorcist revolves around a young girl named Regan, who discovers an Ouija board and decides to give it a try. One of the best zombie shows ever made, All Of Us Are Dead is about a group of students who are stuck in their school, which happens to be epicentre of a deadly zombie apocalypse. As they make their way to safety, they must battle it out and fight off their worst nightmares while trying to survive. Unique, gripping, and refreshingly original, this show is worth the watch.

IT (2017)

IT revolves around a group of seven friends who are constantly bullied by their classmates. Then, one day, they run into Pennywise, a shape-shifting clown that is possessed by an evil spirit and torments young kids before feeding on them. Together, the kids need to fight back and get rid of Pennywise before he takes them all away.
