Ajay Devgn’s 2015 crime thriller film Drishyam, which was a remake of writer and director Jeethu Joseph’s 2013 Malayalam film of the same name, is getting a sequel, Drishyam 2 and the highly-awaited teaser is out. The film is once again an official remake of the Malayalam sequel which was released in 2021—proof that the remixed recipe is working for the Hindi audiences as well.

The over one-minute-long new teaser gives us a glimpse into the sinister twists the film has in store for us. The stage is set with a flashback of the storyline from the 2015 Drishyam and is followed by Tabu’s vengeful commentary in the background, where she mentions how Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) deceived the entire police department and without any evidence left behind, getting a confession out of him would be crucial. In an unexpected turn of events, the video then cuts to Vijay solemnly confessing his crime to the camera, leaving viewers baffled and hungry for more. Besides nemeses Ajay Devgn and Tabu, we also see Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav among others, flashing by the screen in the teaser.

In the first instalment, the film followed the story of a Maharashtrian family living in Goa, whose lives are in shambles after their older daughter Anju (Ishita Dutta) finds herself being blackmailed and asked for sexual favours by a nasty delinquent of a college boy Sameer (Rishabh Chadha), who happens to be the son of Inspector General of Police, Meera Deshmukh (Tabu). Vijay, fuelled by his passion for crime and thriller films and his instinct to fiercely protect his family, ends up devising a crazy and elaborate plan to cover up his family’s tracks, after the sexual offender, Sameer dies at the hands of Anju in self-defence during a dangerous altercation between them.
