It’s time for all of the Deadpool fans to rejoice because Ryan Reynolds has just announced some major news for the next instalment of the series. Reynolds, who plays the role of the anti-hero Deadpool, was last seen taking on the character in the second part of the film which was released in 2018.

Now, the Green Lantern actor has shared the news that his close friend Hugh Jackman, who is known for his iconic role of Wolverine, will be joining in for Deadpool 3. The video starts with Reynolds apologising to his fans for not having been able to make it to the D23 Expo, but assuring fans that they have been working really hard for the next film. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special,” shared Reynolds. He then added, “It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside. And I… I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea.”

Immediately after, we can see Hugh Jackman walking up the stairs in the background and when Reynolds asks him if he wants to play Wolverine one more time, Jackman agrees effortlessly. In true Deadpool fashion, the video ends with Whitney Houston’s song, ‘I Will Always Love You’ playing in the background, only to be subtitled as “I will always love Hugh”.

We last saw Hugh Jackaman portraying the role of Wolverine in his 2016 film, Logan, which was initially supposed to be his last time since the character dies in the film (sorry for the spoiler if you hadn’t seen it). But since the multiverse opened up, it looks like an alternate universe exists where Wolverine X Deadpool is quite possible. Shawn Levy, who has directed Reynolds’ earlier two films, Free Guy and The Adam Project will be directing Deadpool 3, which is now officially a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Disney bought 20th Century Fox.

Deadpool 3 will be released on September 26, 2024, in the theatres.
