We’d be the first people to admit that the constant supply of superhero shows and movies is getting hard to keep up with. It seems like every week there’s a new superhero show that everyone’s raving about. When it’s not sequels featuring already established and beloved characters, it’s introductions to new characters that would presumably play a huge role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the coming future.

While the recent run of MCU shows and movies has been disappointing, there have been a few gems (like MoonKnight and Ms. Marvel) that have managed to stand out from the rest. The most recent addition to the pack is the TV adaptation of 1985 comic book storyline The Sensational She-Hulk.

The show will follow the adventures of Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a badass lawyer who sometimes transforms into a huge, green rage monster like her cousin Bruce Banner AKA The Incredible Hulk. But should you give this new show a chance? Read on to find out…

DISCLAIMER: This is not a review of the show. The following reasons are based on the previews only.

Stay in the know

MCU’s Phase 4 will come to an end with the upcoming Black Panther instalment. She-Hulk is a show where we would be introduced to storylines and characters that could play an important role in the next Phase. This is why it’s essential for you to remain caught up with everything new in the MCU, which in this case means this new show.

Superb cast

The Marvel show boasts of an impressive cast, led by Emmy award-winning actress Tatiana Maslany. The Orphan Black actress is joined by Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga, Tim Roth and Josh Segarra. Mark Ruffalo, who has been playing the role of Hulk in the MCU, is also going to make an extended appearance in the show. Maslany’s Jennifer Walters is Hulk’s cousin and the OG Avenger can be seen helping Walters get used to her hulking green alter-ego in the trailer.

Exciting cameos

The trailer and previews have already revealed that Doctor Strange’s Wong (Benedict Wong) is going to be making an appearance in the show. If that’s not exciting enough, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has also been spotted in the trailer, leading fans to believe Daredevil is going to be a big part in the show. While these two have already been confirmed, who knows which other beloved superhero character might pop up in the show or in the key end credit scene? TBH, we’re still reeling from the one who showed up in Ms. Marvel’s end credit scene!

New genre

With She-Hulk, Marvel is stepping into the new genre of legal comedies. Jennifer Walters is an attorney in charge of superhero affairs. We would get a glimpse of what it’s like for regular human beings to live in a world occupied by chemically enhanced superpowered individuals and Demigods.

Made for women, by women

The MCU has been notorious for its lack of gender equality when it comes to main characters, especially the ones with their own movies and TV shows. After years of criticism, representation has started trickling in slowly in form of a full-fledged Black Widow movie and shows like Wandavision and Ms. Marvel. She-Hulk is another example of a show that’s led by a female superhero and has been made by a primarily female crew as well. Creator and co-writer Kat Coiro recently spoke up about why the presence of so many women behind the camera was so essential to the show, “We had a chance to infuse all of our life experiences into this. That’s the great thing about having so many women behind the camera because it is important to have representation behind the camera that matches the representation in front of the camera as there are things you can’t fake and replicate.”

You can watch the first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law on Disney+ Hotstar and catch the subsequent episodes every Thursday.
